WIStats Ghana is an affiliate of the Ghana Statistical Association. Its objective is to promote Ghanaian women in statistics through advocacy, education, and research.

MISSION
To promote women in the statistics profession (both in academia and industry), to encourage and mentor young females to become future statisticians.

IMPACT OF STATISTICS


ECONOMY
Statistics gives guidance in the formulation of suitable policies and can be formulated well in advance for predictions for society and the economy.

HEALTH
At a time of crisis, governments more than ever must rely on timely, reliable data to make decisions to mitigate harm and support their citizens.

PREDICTIONS
Statistic help in modelling data to make timely predictions to make informed decisions on matters relevant to society, health and governance.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

  1. To promote increased participation and visibility of female statisticians in professional meetings;
  2. To promote increased participation of female statisticians in peer-reviewed publications and on editorial boards;
  3. To promote increased participation of female statisticians on governing boards and committees of statistical societies;
  4. To stimulate professional and social contacts among its members and stimulate the interchange of concerns, ideas, and information related to WIS Ghana objectives;
  5. To promote statistical research relevant to females and/or children as regarding their total well-being and career advancement;
  6. To conduct a yearly business meeting of WIS Ghana members;
  7. To promote research relevant to women in statistics or women in STEM fields;
  8. To motivate young girls to develop interest to study and use statistics so as to develop a career in statistics; and 
  9. To organize sensitization programs about statistics discipline through seminars, workshops, outreach programs and education.
